Rebrand Alert: Introducing a new look for Brandcamp Digital

Hannah Macready

After months of research, revisions, and hard work, we’re excited to announce the launch of our new Brandcamp brand (say that 10 times fast)!

Our team has been working tirelessly to create a brand that truly represents our company and our values. As part of the launch, we’ve refreshed our website, created new marketing materials, and launched a social media campaign. We're excited to put this new brand to the test and share it with you, our community!

Who we are, what we stand for

Brandcamp Digital is a full-service digital marketing agency that believes in the power of community. We work with brands big and small that have a positive impact on the world. We pride ourselves on our passion to make a difference in the communities around us which is why for every 40 hours we work, we do 4 hours of impact work.

Think of us as your favourite camp counsellors. We’re here to show you how to get the most out of your brand and have a little fun along the way.

Brandcamp Digital: Then and now

Since we launched in November of 2019, we've been using the quick 'n dirty branding that Brandcamp Partner Rory J. put together, mostly so that we would have something to put in our Slack workspace icon.

It went through a few iterations to get there, starting with Brandcamp Partner Reza’s contribution (he’s not a designer):

He liked it since he could type it out [/\] on the keyboard. And, well, they do say your logo should be simple and memorable enough a child could draw it.

Unfortunately for Rez, this one didn’t make the cut.

We all love and appreciate the great outdoors, so we kept working the tent/mountain angle until we ended up with this:

This logo was always meant to be a stop-gap fix. A minimum-viable logo in start-up language–just good enough to slap on our first proposal and get some business in the door.

Luckily, we’ve managed to bring on some skilled designers in the last year and they’ve helped us up our ante, brand-wise.

For the rebrand, we tapped our senior graphic designer Alex Dewar. They’ve done some amazing branding for our clients, like the new brand for Fraser Valley Sustainable Seafood.

Alex designed a bright new logo for us from the tent pad up, with a friendly colour palette that lends itself well to both our digital assets (website, social media, proposals) and also physical items (cozy sweaters to wear around the fire and enamel camping mugs).

To celebrate the occasion, we got some personalized swag created by local apparel printing experts Coastal Reign

Here’s Brandcamp Partner Hannah and senior graphic designer Alex rocking some of that swag on their recent climbing trip in Las Vegas.

What’s next for Brandcamp Digital?

While a rebrand is a fun way to stretch our creative muscles, it wouldn’t be possible (or necessary) without the support of our clients and staff.

We opened this business in the middle of a pandemic in the hopes that we could make agency life more about community, and less about hustle.

That’s not to say this first year hasn’t been fast-paced. We’ve had more success than we bargained for and we’ve had our fair share of growing pains.

But, the clients, organizations, people, talent, and partners we’ve met along the way have made us all proud to be where we are today.

It’s not about having the biggest budget or working with the biggest clients.

It’s about doing it together, as a team, and having a damn good time while we’re at it.

This rebrand is the perfect encapsulation of those values. From the internal branding work to taking posed website photos, to sharing our rebrand with our clients and families on launch day, we got to do it together!

One, big, silly, happy camp. That’s what we’re all about.

If you read this far, you must really like us! If we haven’t had a chance to work together yet, let’s change that
